Rich Diviney draws upon 20+ years of experience as a Navy SEAL Officer where he completed more than 13 overseas deployments – 11 of which were to Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout his career, he has achieved multiple leadership positions – including the Commanding Officer of a SEAL Team Six Command.

During his military career, Rich was intimately involved in the world-renowned SEAL selection process, which whittles exceptional candidates down to a small cadre of the most elite optimal performers.

But Rich was often surprised by which recruits washed out and which succeeded. Someone could have all the right skills and still fail, while recruits he might have initially dismissed would prove to be top performers. The seemingly objective criteria weren’t telling him what he most needed to know: What does it take to be one of the highest-performing teams in the world?

Eventually, he cracked the code. Through years of observation, Rich learned to identify a successful recruit’s core Attributes, the innate traits for how a person performs as an individual and as part of a team. As well as understand once you build a high-performing team you must understand how to move through stress and uncertainty to become resilient. That same methodology can be used by anyone in their personal or professional lives.

Upon retirement in early 2017, Rich started working as a speaker, facilitator, and consultant with the Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute and Simon Sinek Inc. to teach corporate teams how to become high-performing.

In 2021, he launched his first book: The Attributes, 25 hidden drivers of optimal performance. He also launched his own consulting business, The Attributes Inc, and developed the revolutionary selection technique, The Attributes Discovery, to help organizations select and assess the right people and form the best teams.

(Note: David’s speaking fee is in the $150k range, which includes all travel expenses.)

There is no one quite like Chief Petty Officer David Goggins. The Navy SEAL, one of an elite group of military men regularly sent on some of the toughest missions in the world, needed more of a challenge for himself, so he set about conquering the hardest sporting events known to man. Today he is considered to be one of the greatest endurance athletes in the world.

In less than four years, David has completed more than 30 endurance races, including multiple ultra-marathons, triathlons, ultra-triathlons, bike races, and arduous mountain ascents, setting new course records and regularly placing in the top five. In 2007, shortly before he was diagnosed with a hole in his heart, he completed 203.5 miles in the 48-Hour National Championship endurance foot race, beating previous records by 20 miles and earning a spot among the top 20 ultra-marathoners of the world. His exceptional achievements made him the subject of a lead feature in Runner’s World, where he was named, “Running Hero.” The Navy even asked him to be their poster boy and appear in a recruiting commercial.

David’s military record alone is astonishing. He is the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training (including two Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Honor Man) and Air Force tactical air controller training. He’s faced combat in Iraq and served as the bodyguard for Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari. And those are only the missions he can openly discuss. This modern-day G.I. Joe has been involved in some of the most sensitive deployments in the military, including top-secret assignments that can potentially alter the course of international geopolitics and American foreign policy.

But all the awards, medals, accolades and magazine articles mean nothing to David. That’s not why he does what he does. Other than the more than $2 million he’s raised for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, none of this recognition is relevant to him. He’s not trying to be number one in the world. He’s not interested in how many races he’s run. He doesn’t keep track of the miles he’s gone through. There’s no scoreboard; there’s no finish line.

Instead, it’s all about achieving his personal best and pushing himself well past his comfort zone. David chooses to run the toughest races and put himself through some of the hardest military training programs in the country for no other reason than to test himself and see what he’s made of. For him, physical suffering is a journey of self-discovery, and endurance is a meditation that strengthens his faith and brings him closer to his God. No other experience makes him feel more clear, focused and alive.

To understand what makes this inspirational individual tick, it’s first necessary to know where he comes from. Born in 1975 in Buffalo into an abusive household, David was put to work in his father’s roller rink business from the time he could crawl. From kindergarten to his senior year in high school, he was almost never his class, and the neglected latchkey kid endured every kind of cruelty, from his own father’s psychological and physical abuse to the rampant racism of small-town Indiana, where he’d been raised by a working single mother since middle school.

Barely graduating with a 1.6 GPA, David was constantly told he was too dumb, too sick or too fat to make it in his chosen military career. In Brazil, Indiana, mere miles from a major KKK stronghold, he was threatened and called the “n-word” almost daily. He struggled with obesity, severe allergies, sickle cell trait, and a congenital heart defect. But he never allowed these circumstances to hold him back or make him a victim. He chose to overcome and prove the doubters and naysayers wrong.

It’s why David is such a sought-after public speaker to this day. His “no excuses; suck it up” approach has made him a favorite of the talking circuit, and he’s regularly invited to speak at college campuses and business forums and address top sports teams like the Seattle Seahawks. What his audiences get is a crash course in personal accountability. David is all about owning his failures. For him, today’s norm of coddling, entitlement, and blame is simply not acceptable. He’s pure old school, and that’s precisely what makes him one of a rare and extraordinary breed of men.

Dan Harris is the former co-anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC News, as well as a former correspondent for such broadcasts as Nightline and World News Tonight. He is also the author of 10% Happier, a #1 New York Times best-selling book about a fidgety, skeptical news anchor who stumbles upon meditation. This ancient practice – too long associated exclusively with hippies and robed gurus – has been shown by modern science to boost resilience, focus, creativity, emotional intelligence, and overall mental and physical health. With meditation and mindfulness now being embraced by executives, athletes, educators, and entertainers, Harris has become a leading voice for pushing for the practice into the mainstream, using plain English and dry humor. He has spoken in front of a variety of audiences—corporations, health and wellness organizations, and schools and universities.

In 10% Happier, Harris tells his story as only a reporter can: through deep research, tough questions, and a healthy dose of irony. The book is part investigation and part immersive journalism: one man’s accidental quest to boost his happiness quotient without losing his professional drive. After learning about research that suggests meditation can do everything from lower blood pressure to essentially rewire the brain, Harris took a deep dive into the underreported world of CEOs, scientists, and even Marines who use the practice to be calmer, happier, and less yanked around by their emotions. The book takes readers on a ride from the outer reaches of neuroscience to the inner sanctum of network news to the bizarre fringes of America’s spiritual scene, leaving them with takeaways that could actually change their lives.

The app Harris co-founded—called 10% Happier: Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics—mixes the irreverence of the book with simple, practical, down-to-earth instructions. Users receive short daily videos, in which Dan discusses the practice with some of the world’s greatest teachers. The app also comes with a personal coach, who can answer questions and keep users accountable.

10% Happier is also available in podcast form, and features in-depth conversations about meditation and happiness with celebrities, doctors, scholars, and other icons, including the Dalai Lama.

Harris’ new book, Meditation for Fidgety Skeptics,  quickly made its way onto the New York Time’s Best-seller list.

Previously, Harris was the anchor of the Sunday edition of World News. He regularly contributed stories on ABC for such shows as 20/20World News Tonight with David Muir, and the weekday edition of Good Morning America. Harris has reported from all over the world, covering wars in Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, and Iraq, and producing investigative reports in Haiti, Cambodia, and the Congo. He has also spent many years covering America’s faith scene, with a focus on evangelicals — who have treated him kindly despite the fact that he is openly agnostic.

Harris has been at ABC News for 16 years, receiving Murrow and Emmy awards for his reporting. Prior to joining ABC, he was in local news in Boston and Maine.

Harris grew up outside of Boston and currently lives with his wife, Bianca, and their son, Alexander, in New York City.

Vishen Lakhiani is one of today’s most influential minds in the fields of personal growth and human consciousness. He is the founder and CEO of Mindvalley, the world’s leading online personal growth education company, and behind several top-ranking health and wellness apps. He is also a New York Times best-selling author with several more books on the way. With an incredible passion and drive to unite humanity and challenge the status quo, he has built a movement of growth-seekers, spanning 100 countries, engaging more than 10 million followers on social media, and nearly half-a-million students online each year.

Vishen grew up in Malaysia surrounded by diversity and describes his childhood schooling experience as “forgettable”. As a young adult, he envisioned going to school in the United States, and so he applied and was accepted into the University of Michigan’s highly touted Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) program. Despite being among the top five ECE programs in the U.S., Vishen barely graduated because he didn’t click with the formal concept of education. These experiences ignited a passion within to evolve the education system. After creating Mindvalley, Vishen launched Mindvalley University, a yearly rotating school centered on holistic growth, and he built Mindvalley’s learning platform called “Quest”, which shows 5x higher completion rates than the average online course.

In 2016, Vishen penned his New York Times bestseller, The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, which challenges you to reject the inherited Bullshit Rules (Brules) that hold you back. In 2017, it hit the coveted #1 spot on Amazon five times and twice he became the No. 2 author in the world on Amazon Kindle, overtaking JK Rowling and Stephen King. His book has since been translated into 20+ languages which led to winning many awards and being featured on several magazine covers in Malaysia.

Vishen believes in work-life integration, which is reflective of the company culture he created at Mindvalley. In fact, the company was recognized as one of the top 10 coolest offices in the world by Inc. Magazine and Vishen regularly contributes to media sites like Forbes and Thrive. He is a passionate health and education activist (read his exposé on Nestle in Malaysia, shared over 20 million times). He is a member of the Transformational Leadership Council.

As a father of two, Vishen hopes for his children to grow up in a borderless and awakened world with extraordinary education options. His goal? For Mindvalley to reach 100 national schooling systems and every company in the Fortune 500 over the next decade.

You’ve probably seen Mario on TV as an Emmy Award–winning talk show host and Digital Lifestyle Strategist or as a regular contributor on NBC’s TODAY show, CNN, and NPR. Or maybe on Inside Edition, Dr. Oz, Steve Harvey, or Rachael Ray. Until recently he also authored the monthly ‘Learn It’ column in Men’s Fitness magazine. In other words, he’s everywhere!

Audiences can now see Mario on his signature Never Settle Show, the world’s first crowd-produced, livestreamed talk show with live participation from the in-studio & online audience. After just one season, the show won Best Live Show of 2017 by the International Academy of Web Television. The show is being coproduced by Al Roker’s media company, Roker Media, filmed at NASDAQ Studio in New York City and distributed by NASDAQ on Facebook’s new network, Facebook Watch, along with Entrepreneur Network.

When he’s not playing host, contributor, and expert, he’s living a balanced life, playing husband and father, devouring sushi, meditating, adding to his metal lunchbox collection, and taking his “sneaker head” status to borderline obsessive levels. (Seriously, you wouldn’t believe this guy’s closet.)

While Mario is the face, the fun, the fashion, and the force that everyone gets to see and enjoy, Mario Armstrong Media is hardly a one-man show. Mario comes with an entire team of strategists, researchers, producers, idea generators, and content creators all working hard (and playing hard!) behind the scenes, making great things happen. Every day. Mario Armstrong is many different things: TV host, media personality, public speaker, public servant, and social entrepreneur. As a speaker, he has traveled around the world speaking for corporations and conferences about the integration of digital media, the future of technology, and innovative marketing strategies.

Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in October 31, 1953. In October 13, 1972, when he was 18 years old, he embarks on a trip to Chile that would change his life forever. The plane in which Carlitos was flying, together with other 44 passengers, crashes in the heart of the Andes Mountains 4200 meters over sea level.  After ten days of hopeless search, in an environment where according to experts survival was impossible, the authorities decide to end the search and accept the fact that these people would not be coming back alive.

72 days later, when Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa cross the Andes looking for help, the world learns that 16 people have survived.

Faith, passion, team work and overall attitude were key factors in the most incredible story of survival that the world has ever witnessed.

Today, more than 40 years later, Carlitos has two children: María Elena de los Andes “Gochi” and Carlos Diego, and five grandchildren: Justina, Mía, Violeta, Juan Justo and Alexis.

Combat tests you. Being a beat cop tests you. Life tests you. Three brothers and being the only girl…tests you. Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour has been tested her whole life. A gutsy trailblazer, her resume is an impressive collection of “firsts” including America’s first Black female combat pilot. She served two tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine. She was also a diversity liaison officer to the Pentagon for Headquarters Marine Corps. After her military service, FlyGirl revved up her career in the private sector as an entrepreneur, consultant to business, and author of Zero to Breakthrough, The 7-Step, Battle-Tested Method for Accomplishing Goals that Matter. As a speaker, FlyGirl unleashes hard-hitting advice and amazing anecdotes from her adventures on the battlefield and in business. She helps individuals and organizations Get Gutsy and build a sustainable inner force and conviction, that results in accomplishing significant goals.

In 2007, FlyGirl launched VAI Consulting & Training, LLC. Through that work, she helps individuals and organizations make gutsy moves and create breakthrough results by applying her “Zero to BreakthroughTM” Success Model – a mindset that helped to propel her career and kept her safe in air combat. FlyGirl regularly takes her message to premier meetings and conferences worldwide and is a Gutsy Confidence Mentor for elite senior executive Women in Tech.

As her newest business venture, in 2020 FlyGirl started FlyGirl Construction, a General Contracting Firm in the Atlanta, GA area.

As a Black gay woman and single mom, FlyGirl brings vital experience to her role as a member of the Forbes School of Business & Technology Board of Advisors and COMCAST/NBCUniversal Joint Diversity Council.

FlyGirl has two honorary doctorates and has received numerous awards as a pioneering pilot, including honors for her commanding role in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour’s story has been featured in the media including on CNN, MSNBC, The View, FOX News, Oprah Winfrey and many more, along with being a running back for the San Diego Sunfire professional women’s football team and two-time title holder of Camp Pendleton’s Strongest Warrior Competition.

She is currently working on her next book, The Gutsy Move.

How did it all start? Vernice was born in Chicago, IL in 1973, and moved to Memphis, TN after her parents divorced when she was three. By the age of four, she knew she wanted to be a police officer that rode a horse downtown. She received her first pony as a gift on the Christmas day following her fourth birthday and her dream quickly started to have a foundation in reality. In 1991, she graduated from John Overton High School for Creative and Performing Arts where she was very active in the music program, class vice president, a member of Mu Alpha Theta (mathematics honor society), and The National Honor Society.

In 1993, the future combat pilot enlisted in the Army Reserves and joined the Army ROTC program while at Middle Tennessee State University. During an Army ROTC career day, the seed of becoming a pilot was planted when Vernice saw the image of a young Black female in an Army flight suit. “Now why didn’t I think of that!” was her first thought!

In June of 1996, after a brief stint as a Nashville Sheriff’s Department correctional officer, Vernice took a break from college to accept an invitation to the Nashville Police Academy. She graduated in December 1996 – and later became the first woman of color on the Nashville Police Department’s motorcycle squad. She graduated from MTSU in December of 1997 with her B.S. in Physical Education: Emphasis in Exercise Science.

With the aviation seed in full bloom, Vernice was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps on December 12, 1998 and on her way to flight school. When Vernice finally earned her wings in July 2001, the ambitious pilot ranked No. 1 out of both her class of 12 and of the last 200 to graduate. She made the Naval Air Station’s prestigious Commodore’s List, received the Academic Achievement Award, was the top graduate in her class, and went on to make history as the Marine Corps’ first African American female pilot.

After flight school, Vernice was stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton near San Diego, CA, piloting the AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter. While there she was Camp Pendleton’s “Female Athlete of the Year” and two-time titleholder in their “Strongest Warrior” Competition.

Deployed as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, Vernice was recognized by the Department of Defense as America’s first African American female combat pilot. Vernice flew above the deserts of Iraq in her missile-equipped attack helicopter, engaging the enemy and scouting the roads from her cockpit, making sure they were safe for her fellow Marines and soldiers on the ground.

Upon leaving the military after the completion of two tours in Iraq, Vernice launched VAI Consulting and Training, LLC. She now resides in Atlanta, GA with her daughter Noah…her gutsiest move yet.

Captain USN (Ret)

George Dom is a former naval officer and aviator. His career included key leadership positions in high performance organizations, including four aircraft carrier fighter squadrons and command of the air wing on the USS John F. Kennedy. He was an instructor pilot at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (Topgun) and served as commanding officer and flight leader of the Blue Angels. After “graduating” from the Navy, he became a business aviation consultant to Fortune 500 corporations, private companies and high net-worth individuals.

Flying fighter jets in training and combat, in the unforgiving environment of an aircraft carrier at sea, as well as high-speed and very low altitude formation acrobatics, was a unique thrill and privilege for George. However, what gave him the greatest lasting satisfaction was “building” high performance leaders and teams. For an organization like the Navy, there is no such thing as “lateral entry”. They can’t hire a squadron commander from the business world, so leadership development is not only the key to success, but crucial to survival.

Achieving individual and collective high performance requires High-Trust Leadership and Full Engagement. This is true in sports, the military, medical teams, and in the business world today. Through daily, deliberate and focused effort, a culture of high-trust and fully engaged “wingmen” can be developed at all levels. This results in a “force-multiplier” with results exponentially greater than the sum of the ingredients.

George’s passion continues as he builds high performance leaders and teams across America. He helps business leaders improve their individual and organizational effectiveness by building High-Trust Leadership and Full Engagement by all hands. George Dom shares the science-based method for developing Full Engagement. He helps audience members acquire the ability to intentionally invest their full and best energy–right here, right now.

An “OK3” is the highest grade attainable in Navy aircraft carrier landing competitions. Less than 1% of all landings are graded an “OK landing on the #3 wire.”

George’s keynote presentation and workshops will benefit your leadership team, and your organization. He will help you unleash the human talent in your group to achieve exceptional results, customer/employee satisfaction, and shareholder value. George Dom will help you get OK3 performance in your business.

A leading authority on business strategy, Henry Mintzberg is Professor of Management at McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a Visiting Scholar at INSEAD in Fontainbleau, France. His entire career has focused on understanding how big business make decisions. In 2009 and 2007 Thinkers 50, the global ranking of management gurus, placed him among the list of most influential thinkers.

Professor Mintzberg has devoted himself largely to writing and research about managerial work, strategy formation, and forms of organizing. In 2004 he published Managers Not MBAs, in 2007, Tracking Strategies and in 2009 Managing.

In collaboration with colleagues from Canada, England, France, India, and Japan, Mintzberg has worked for much of the past decade to develop new approaches to management education and development. The International Masters in Practicing Management has been running since 1996; the Advanced Leadership Program and the International Masters for Health Leadership have been running since 2006. All are rather novel ways to help managers learn from their own experience.

In 2007, along with Phil LeNier, Sasha Sadilova, and Jonathan Gosling, Mintzberg created CoachingOurselves.com, which brings all these efforts to natural fruition: practicing managers developing themselves in small groups. Mintzberg teaches in these programs and supervises doctoral students.

In all, Professor Mintzberg has published about 150 articles and 15 books. Honors have included election as an Officer of the Order of Canada and of l′Ordre national du Quebec, selection as Distinguished Scholar for the year 2000 by the Academy of Management, and two McKinsey prizes for articles in the Harvard Business Review.

    • Born into a family of writers, artists, and educators, Victoria created a whole new artistic category in the speaking profession with her “Theatrical Keynotes.”
  • After completing a distinguished record at Stanford University, Victoria went to train and work professionally in the fields of acting, comedy, writing, and film production. Included in this experience was the rare distinction of being mentored by the legendary Marcel Marceau.

Known for her unique style of blending the spoken word with physical expressiveness and comedy, Victoria has earned awards for her writing and performance work, as well as acclaim from critics across the country ranging from the New York Times to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Her professional appearances such as HBO’s Sex & The City; film documentaries directed by Academy Award nominees; over 27 television commercials; off-Broadway shows; NBC News; Fox News; ABC/Good Morning America’s stage in Times Square; and performances of her original one-woman shows at scores of high profile theaters, comedy clubs and corporate venues have provided the toughest test of her talent. Through it all, Victoria has uncovered a rare ability to connect with every audience and to open minds and hearts to her message.

Her interactive, high-content breakout sessions that follow have people laughing, learning, and re-engaging with their team mates and their work in an entirely new way. Participants leave with invaluable new insights, practical and applicable communication tools, and an unforgettable, laughter-rich experience.

Victoria’s skill for bringing art, experience, and creativity into the corporate messaging process developed through years of experience — as a writing-performing artist, a corporate television spokesperson, an associate producer of comedic-theatrical educational and training videos, and a senior leader of experiential education courses (ropes courses and backpacking expeditions) for special ed groups and company retreats.

You can bet that corporations like Starbucks, Administaff, 24 Hour Fitness, JetBlue University, PNC Bank, Christus Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Interstate Hotels & Resorts Company, Bosley, Chick-fil-A, and the NYPD do not assemble their people for major corporate events just to be entertained. They chose Victoria knowing she would make a sustainable difference in the passion and performance of their people.

Sarano Kelley, Founder of The Game and Author of, The Game: Win Your Life in 90 Days, grew up in a gang-infested neighborhood of Brownsville, New York. At 16 years old he Kelley was accepted and began his studies at Vassar College. By the time he reached the age of 23 he was already earning 400,000 dollars in commissions as a Wall Street Stockbroker. It was at the height of his professional success when a family tragedy occurred and Kelley lost some of his beloved family members in a sudden fire. The somber experience was the driving force behind Kelley’s journey of new beginnings where he discovered how to produce results, while achieving a life mounted on the principles of balance and purpose.

Kelley’s experience as a Motivational Speaker and Life Coach has allowed him to train more than 250,000 people. While serving as a media coach, Kelley trained several corporate leaders and government representatives. Because his trainees were frequently interviewed on CNN, 20/20 and 60 Minutes, it was up to Kelley to properly prepare these individuals for their highly publicized stories. His media coach experience also gave Kelley an opportunity to coach President Clinton’s White House Fellows, a leadership group which included Gen. Colin Powell.

For several years running now, Kelley has been rated as the number one speaker at the Securities Industry Association at the Wharton School of Business. Kelley has appeared on, Good Morning America, and his not for profit foundation applies the same principles to schools across the nation and in his own ABC TV primetime television special for children called The Game: Winning at Life.

On Nov. 5, 2009, VH1 premiered, Broke and Famous, a docudrama showcasing the powerful journey of former child-star, Willie Aames. The show trails Aames as he pulls himself back into financial prosperity with the help of Kelley’s unique coaching style. The financial docudrama was a heart-felt story of redemption and also served as the catalyst for the IAFSCA’s launch of the Stand Up for Financial Literacy Campaign (STAND4FL).

Kelley and his team of financial literacy advocates continue to speak out about the need of a universal approach to fiscal education and responsibly. So far, their efforts have fostered a national dialogue around the issue and have ultimately creating the largest unified financial literacy campaign in the financial service industry.

    Multidimensional Expert

Gloria has touched many lives over the years. Through her talks and presentations, her consulting and training programs, thousands have unearthed the secret to projecting their personal presence with charisma, power, and poise in their business and personal lives. She has created an arsenal of programs and speeches that have and will continue to inspire people to see life’s obstacles as opportunities to grow and emerge stronger, smarter, and more determined than ever to live life to the fullest.

Prior to 1985, she spent sixteen years in corporate America. Then, during her early years developing Global Protocol, Inc., she studied and conducted seminars on business protocol, professional etiquette, and personal image. These experiences gave her the groundwork needed to develop her company, Global Protocol, Inc.

    Persevering Entrepreneur

A question Gloria constantly hears is: “How did you get into this business?” Her response: “I evolved into it.” It was not a profession for which you say, “When I grow up I want to be. . . .” Life does not always work that way. Detours in the road cause us to reroute our goals and our ambitions. The challenge becomes to stay focused on an outcome that works for you, not against you, whatever the odds. First, you have to tap into your unique abilities (your gifts); from this you identify your passion. Next, you create your plan. (Read Gloria’s “Upfront and Personal” blog to learn more about her journey and how you can use her experiences to enhance your own career goals.)

Gloria has always been an achiever with great work ethic reviews. When bad times and corporate cutbacks left her dangling in 1980, literally, she decided to focus on being a full-time mother. To fulfill her ambitions and her need to be engaged with people, she became involved in volunteer work at the YMCA and YWCA. Then, as she helped the YWCA develop “lunch and learn” programs, an idea emerged.

In 1985 she launched a company known today as Global Protocol, Inc. She used her fashion-design schooling, cosmetic training, and color-analysis expertise to get started as an image consultant and debuted a series of fashion workshops for both men and women. But something was missing, so she researched and found The Color Studio in Richardson, Texas; The Professional Image Institute in Atlanta, Georgia; and The Protocol School of Washington in Washington, D.C. The only training available at that time was in the form of certifications from these institutions. She completed all of them—sometimes more than once. Then Gloria formulated her own version of this new and emerging industry. Of course, it took years to make this all happen. She started in 1985 but her plan did not fully come together until 1994, when she landed her first major retainer with AT&T—you can be sure that a lot happened in between.

    Exemplary Survivor

Recuperating, Gloria continues to share her knowledge.

Gloria has overcome many challenges in her life, both personal and professional. Her first serious personal challenge happened when she was stabbed in a senseless act of violence in 2004 at an upscale Chicago department store. She stopped the attempted theft of a mink coat. She was told she would never regain full use of her severed left thigh muscle. She didn’t listen and instead focused on rebuilding her leg muscle. She was still alive! The rest was up to her. Beating the odds, she is now fully recovered and has full use of her left leg. With the help of her faith, determination, and physical therapy regimen, she walks proudly today with no sign of a limp—even in high heels! She is now able to talk about the healing process from this senseless act of violence as an inspiration to others.

If that was not enough, in January 2010 she was hospitalized for emergency surgery and learned that she had a rare form of cancer (carcinoid cancer). She thought she had been living a very healthy life! She ate right, exercised regularly, maintained a healthy weight, did not smoke, and rarely drank alcohol. Her response: “If I am going to contract cancer, of course, it is going to be a rare one!” Instead of letting this unexpected illness consume her, she fought back with her faith, diet, and exercise. She is winning the battle without radiation or chemo. While in the hospital, she made the decision to record the wisdom she acquired through her years of work (her legacy) in a four-book series entitled, The Art of Professional Connections, which is now available in soft-cover and ebook (Kindle) formats. These books were released in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Overcoming obstacles is what inspires her: achieving dreams against the odds. These personal traumas have made her a stronger person and an inspiration for many.

    Dedicated Mother and Grandmother

Gloria has a son and a daughter (both in their 30s), who have blessed her with eight grandchildren (ages ten and under). Although they live in two different states (Arizona and Virginia), she is there when they need her to help with the children. Whether it is watching the children while their parents enjoy a vacation or taking the children on an adventure.

It only took one phone call in the spring of 2007 from her daughter to inspire Gloria, without hesitation, to move from Chicago to Phoenix in November of 2007—a move that proved to be a blessing in disguise. She arrived in time to experience the amazing birth of her daughter’s twins (Adam and Allison). Her daughter, Serena, now has four children (Jonathan, Adam, Allison, and Janie). Her son also has four children (Aiden, Hannah, Kate, and Lauren). They keep her spirit young!

    Giving Volunteer

Gloria has served on numerous fundraisers, benefiting organizations like The American Red Cross, Lutheran Social Services, and the Serenity Hospice. These campaigns involved organizing fundraising events, commentating fashion shows, and arranging for donations. There are just not enough hours in a day to “give” time to all the charities in need. Therefore, on her globalbusinessprotocol.com website, she designated a monthly blog called “In the Spotlight” to spread the word and promote “good works.”

Her professional memberships include the National Speakers Association, American Society of Training and Development, Association of Image Consultants International, and local Chambers of Commerce, to name a few. Whatever the membership, she always takes an active volunteer role. These roles can range from being a people mover at a national convention to organizing chapter programs and speakers.

Suze Orman has been called “a force in the world of personal finance” and a “one-woman financial advice powerhouse” by USA Today. A two-time Emmy Award-winning television host, New York Times mega bestselling author, magazine and online columnist, writer/producer, and one of the top motivational speakers in the world today, Orman is undeniably America’s most recognized expert on personal finance.

Orman was the contributing editor to “O” The Oprah Magazine for 16 years, the Costco Connection magazine for over 18 years, and hosted the award winning Suze Orman Show, which aired every Saturday night on CNBC for 13 years. Over her television career Suze has accomplished that which no other television personality ever has before. Not only is she the single most successful fundraiser in the history of Public Television, but she has also garnered an unprecedented eight Gracie awards, more than anyone in the entire history of this prestigious award. The Gracies recognize the nation’s best radio, television, and cable programming for, by, and about women.

In March 2013, Forbes magazine awarded Suze a spot in the top 10 on a list of the most influential celebrities of 2013. In January 2013, The Television Academy Foundation’s Archive of American Television has honored Suze’s broadcast career accomplishments with her recent inclusion in its historic Emmy TV Legends interview collection.

In 2010, Orman was also honored with the Touchstone Award from Women in Cable Telecommunications, was named one of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” by Forbes and was presented with an Honorary Doctor of Commercial Science degree from Bentley University. In that same month, Orman received the Gracie Allen Tribute Award from the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT); the Gracie Allen Tribute Award is bestowed upon an individual who truly plays a key role in laying the foundation for future generations of women in the media.

In October 2009, Orman was the recipient of a Visionary Award from the Council for Economic Education for being a champion on economic empowerment. In July 2009, Forbes named Orman 18th on their list of The Most Influential Women In Media. In May 2009, Orman was presented with an honorary degree Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Illinois. In May 2009 and May 2008, Time named Orman as one of the TIME 100, The World’s Most Influential People. In October 2008, Orman was the recipient of the National Equality Award from the Human Rights Campaign.

In April 2008, Orman was presented with the Amelia Earhart Award for her message of financial empowerment for women. Saturday Night Live has spoofed Suze six times during 2008-2011. In 2007, Business Week named Orman one of the top ten motivational speakers in the world—she was the ONLY woman on that list, thereby making her 2007’s top female motivational speaker in the world.

Orman who grew up on the South Side of Chicago earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Illinois and at the age of 30 was still a waitress making $400 a month.
